Cable 92

Two weeks ago, Irene’s car is run off the road into the Hudson River in New York by Cable‘s enemies, The Dark Sisterhood. She is able to make it to the surface, but there is no sign of Blaquesmith, who was in the car with her.

A mental shield on her thoughts that Blaquesmith had placed on Irene’s mind shields her thoughts from Sisterhood. She climbs up on a dock and calls Cable’s emergency phone number.

Like something out of a spy movie, two friends of Cable (Wendy and Casper) pick Irene up in a van.

Tonight, Cable sits starring at a chess board, pondering what to do about the Dark Sisterhood. They are a secret organization that seeks power and has vast network of members including corrupt politicians and lawyers. It is run by someone called the Dark Mother, and for some reason, the only person she fears is Cable. He intends on finding out why.

Two weeks ago at the Xavier Institute, Jean Grey-Summers tells Professor Xavier that she received a telepathic warning about the Dark Sisterhood from Cable, but since then hasn't been able to contact him. She knows he can't be dead, since she would have sensed that. But he has completely shut himself off from her. Professor Xavier tried to reach Cable telepathically, but can't.

Beast (Hank McCoy) rushes in to tell them about a fire in New York City at Cable's safe house. Jeans wants them to do something immediately, since Cable's clearly in danger. But Xavier isn't certain.

Xavier explains that if Nathan needed their help, why would he be blocking off all telepathic communication? They know nothing about this Dark Sisterhood, and even if they exist.

Jean asks if Xavier thinks that Nathan has lost his mind. Hank adds that Storm said he was in a rage over Mora's death, and Xavier reminds them Nathan nearly strangled Nightcrawler in Manhattan.

Xavier says that Nathan is a violent man who believes war between humans and mutants is inevitable. He suggests Nathan may believe he has already started fighting that war.

Nathan was guarding Senator Kelly, yet a student was able to shoot and kill him. Jean tries to explain that Nathan was too disoriented from Mora's death to have saved Kelly. Xavier asks Jean if she is certain Cable had no involvement in Kelly's assassination, and if that student wasn't being controlled by a telepath to do that? Jean replied that that is insane! She suggests Xavier telepathically scan the mind of the student and find out why he did what he did.

Turning his computer monitor around, Xavier shows them an image of the student dead in his prison cell. Scrawled on the wall in red is "Cable Made Me Do It". Xavier explains that prison doctors reported that his heart had been crushed.

Tonight, Cable continues to stare at the chess board, contemplating the Dark Mother. She is utterly ruthless, willing to do anything to destroy Cable. He has been isolated from his friends. He is like a lone chess piece surrounded by his enemies. Cable smashes a pawn with his T.K.

One week ago, Cable's friend at SHIELD, G.W. Bridge, is taken off active duty and transferred to a desk job in Alaska. His commanding officer tells him he has been deemed a security risk due to his ties to Cable. The General is completely on edge and pulls a gun on Bridge. He says that two other generals had terrible accidents the previous night. One general was involved in a horrible car accident (where two mysterious women watched on). The other general was speaking to the Secretary of Defense (Gina Anderson) and suddenly died of a heart attack.

Secretary Anderson decided that Bridge must be either transferred or court-martialed. Bridge chooses to accept the re-assignment, since he realizes there had to be some sort of conspiracy behind this.

Irene is taken to the secret base of "The Clean-up Crew" a covert-ops group that does the dirty work government organizations don't want to do. They have ties to Cable, and he asked them to look after Irene.

They tell her she is going to need to start making some decisions about staying alive. They show her a picture of her car being pulled out of the river, and tell her a body matching her finger print and dental records was found inside. Police closed the case when they found that Irene’s police record was filled with drunk driving offenses and a empty bottle of alcohol was found in the car. To the rest of the world, Irene is dead.

They explain that the Sisterhood was the ones who added false arrest records for drunk driving to Irene’s police record to cover up their own involvement in driving her into the river. The Clean-Up Crew were the ones to make sure the Sisterhood didn't know that Irene survived the accident.

If the Sisterhood learns that Irene is alive, they will try to kill her again. And they are willing to do anything to do that. In their recent attack on Cable’s safehouse, they murdered an entire family to cover up their dirty work.

Irene will need to completely alter her appearance and assume a new identity if she has any chance of escaping from the Sisterhood. They suggest that she uses a holographic image inducer that will completely change her appear and that she changes her skin from white to black. But they warn her that she’s going to experience a whole new level of prejudice. Wendy asks if she has a favorite name. Irene says she always like Margaret. So now Irene will become Margaret Brundage, an insurance investigator. They'll have her new identity ready for her in an hour.

Cable realizes that the Sisterhood is waging a hidden war against the world, seeking an Age of the Sisterhood where the world is controlled by mutant women.

Two weeks ago, Rachel Summers is walking on her college campus talking with two friends. Her blonde haired friend asks Rachel if she is going to the S.A.M rally tonight for the guy who was killed the night before.

Rachel isn't familiar with S.A.M. Her other friend explains it’s Students Against Mutants, a group a student name Connie Moore founded. Moore hates mutants and wants all of the locked up. The blonde haired friend replies that Moore is a bit extreme, but she wouldn't want a mutant looking inside her mind.

Rachel tries to argue with them and says she doesn't hate anyone and they should leave mutants alone. Her blonde friend brings up Magneto and Cable, who just killed Senator Kelly.

Cable is shocked at the news. Her African-American friend says it is all over the news how at first people thought the student killed Senator Kelly because he was turning soft on mutants. But now it turns out he was being mentally controlled by Cable and made to kill the Senator. The guy had his heart crushed by Cable and that’s why they are having the rally.

Rachel is shocked and asked if the student said that Cable took over his mind.

She knows Cable must be being framed, so she does some research of her own. She does research online with her laptop. Since Cable hasn't telepathically contacted her, she knows that has to be for a reason. This plot to frame him is too sophisticated for any ordinary organization. She knows that if he needed her, he would contact her. But that isn't going to stop her from doing her own investigating.

She decides to go to the S. A.M. rally to get a sense of the crowd and investigate Connie Moore, not to start trouble. Since she isn't exactly the trusting type, she takes with her enough firepower to overwhelm a whole SHIELD squad. That night, in a dark sedan, a person says that the media campaign against Cable is going well but she wants to raise the intensity. He or she wants his/her associate to find enemies of his from his mercenary days to provide some good sound bites to the media against Cable, but it has been hard to find any information about Cable’s past. The person wants results, not excuses. Cable is the most wanted man in America. He'll be captured or killed shortly.

The person asks about if there is any news on Rachel Summers. The associate replies that their agents are searching the country for her, and they will find her shortly. Plan Six cannot start until both of the Summers children are dead.

The person gets out of the car at the White House - it is Secretary of Defense Gina Anderson and tells her associate that she needs to convince the President to take a stronger stand against mutants.

Cable stands up, knowing the Sisterhood has found his safehouse. He slams his fist on the chessboard, ready to do what it takes to stop the Dark Mother.
