the bring rachel home campaign
Rachel could be written out of the X-books again and fans need to take action to save her!!
It seems like every other year, Rachel fans need to organize another campaign to get Rachel back into the X-books. This is the final straw. We're sick and tired of Rachel being tossed aside.
The first phase of the Bring Rachel Home campaign is over, and we had a partial victory with the five part limited series, X-Men: Emperor Vulcan.
However, Emperor Vulcan ends with a cliffhanger and it appears Rachel will not be returning home any time soon.
With a major overhaul of the X-books happening after Messiah Complex, this is a crucial time to make sure that the editors and writers know that fans want Rachel to be in an X-book, and preferably part of a core team. Plans are being made to decide what will happen in the next few years, and major changes will be happening to the lineup of X-books.
Rumor has it that after several failed Starjammers series, Marvel has no interest in an ongoing Starjammers series.
Mike Carey has expressed an interesting in writing Rachel, and noted that he thought that her relationship with Nathan was very interesting. But Mike Carey will be writing X-Men: Legacy which will deal with flashbacks.
Emperor Vulcan writer Chris Yost will be writing a new version of X-Force, which might be a good fit for Rachel. Newcomer Duane Swierczynski will be writing the new Cable, but it's possible there will be major changes to Cable's character in that series and we don't know if it would even be possible for Rachel to appear.
When asked if Rachel, Alex and Lorna would be rejoining X-team following the completion of Emperor Vulcan, X-Editor Nick Lowe told X-Position, "At least one of those characters will make it out of Emperor Vulcan alive. And I think it's safe to assume that they're big enough characters to have a future in the X-Books."
With questions over whether characters like Rachel who are incorrectly perceived as being confusing for new readers will be included in this latest revamp of the X-book lineup, it's a good time to make sure Rachel's fans make their voices heard. Let's make sure that Rachel finally comes home and into one of the core teams.
The goals of this campaign are to:
- Let everyone involved in X-books to know how popular Rachel is.
- Get Rachel to a book (that takes place on Earth).
1. Write and Email the Editors
Let the X-Editors know how you feel! Emails are good, but sending a letter or postcard to Marvel has a much bigger impact!
I know everyone is upset, but try to keep any correspondence in respectful and in good taste. Try to explain why you like Rachel and why you think that she should return to Earth.
If you want your email or letter considered for the letter page, include "OK to Print" in it.
Send emails to the following address:

Whether Rachel goes to Uncanny X-Men, X-Force, Cable or another title (perhaps the newest New Excalibur or even Exiles), she shouldn't be wasted by being stranded in space and burdened down with even more convoluted continuity with Korvus, the Blade of the Phoenix and all of this Shi'Ar nonsense.
2. Buy Rachel Merchandise
There are several Rachel toys coming out. Hopefully if they sell well, it will send a message to Marvel about how popular Rachel is.
Diamond Select has released two limited edition mini-busts of Rachel from End of the Greys.
The Hasbro Marvel Legends Marvel Girl Figure is in stores now, but is very hard to find. You can purchase it online at:
Walmart
Hasbro
3. Talk to Editors and Creators At Conventions
It is likely that there will be X-Panels at the two major comic conventions this winter and spring. It would be great to have a Rachel fan presence at them:
WonderCon San Francisco - Feb 22-24, 2008
Wizard World Los Angeles - March 16-18, 2008
4. Post Questions For Quesada and X-Position
Every Friday Marvel Editor-In-Chief Joe Quesada answers questions from fans on Newarama.com.
You can post question for Joe on Newsarama's forum.
ComicBookResources.com has a weekly Q&A with various X-book writers and editors called X-Position. Check the latest column for the email address to send in your Rachel questions.
